Well, the stats agree with your eye. We don't have shitloads of mediocre play, we have shitloads of terrible, incompetent play, which could be due to a lack of talent (in the players, the coaches, the owners, the league, or some mix).
I'm not sure how eliminating the salary cap will raise the player talent levels. I'm not even confident that player talent levels are the problem driving the recent incompetency.

Chancellor was looking for a big hit, not giving deep help there---might cost Seattle the game.
I'd agree, it won't raise the talent level. All it will do is raise the price on mediocrity. From an owners perspective, they would never go for that.

Ya. But why is the Seattle pass D so much worse? Dano or wibi? Loss of pass rush? Maxwell that big a loss?
It's the pass rush not getting there. The more time there is for a QB to pick apart a zone, the easier it is to complete passes.
That should be a catch but who the fuck knows. This is why the micro-interpretation of the rules and instant replay kill the game.
