The committee loves Ohio State. Ridiculous. Cincinnati has more wins and a tougher schedule.

Sounds very likely next week vs Ohio State is out too, so the Big 10 will have to change its rules or OSU can’t play in the CCG even though they’ll play in the ... national championship game. Go figure

Very true!!Playing Wisconsin is probably better for their resume than playing Northwestern
“@Brett_McMurphy: B1G ADs will likely change B1G title game requirements to allow 5-0 Ohio State in title game if it can’t play 6th league game, sources told @Stadium. But it won’t be an easy decision, source said. A win in B1G title game would all but guarantee Buckeyes a spot in @CFBPlayoff”
So they should have just played their way through the pandemic instead of adjusting on the fly in the midst of a pandemic? This is such a bad look from the big 10. Makes it seem like rules don’t apply to OSU. Because these rules are only being changed mid season because the NCAA’s darling hasn’t played Enough games. I doubt they pull this move for any other college.

They were hastily made up rules before the season started and the league understands that it would be absurd to put the best team in the conference in the position to be eliminated because of Covid. And those hastily made rules will probably be changed because Ohio State has a chance to make the playoffs and that helps the entire league. This is such a bad look from the big 10. Yeah, definitely, the Big 10 definitely does more for Ohio State than Ohio State does for the Big 10.OSU and Michigan officially canceled.
now we wait to see if the big ten bends the rules for their golden child.
I’m sorry but if it was say Purdue (instead of OSU) with the same record and performance that OSU has shown this year, I highly doubt they would bend the rules for them because Purdue is not OSU.Yeah, definitely, the Big 10 definitely does more for Ohio State than Ohio State does for the Big 10.
I have no idea why you have lost your marbles on this topic.
wonder if the big10 is pulling strings for an OSU VS IU rematch.“@Brett_McMurphy: Purdue football program cancels practice Tuesday to evaluate results of recent COVID-19 testing. Purdue scheduled to play at Indiana Saturday”
The hate is strong with that one. It happens.Yeah, definitely, the Big 10 definitely does more for Ohio State than Ohio State does for the Big 10.

Yeah, it just might be hate, but irrational hate in this instance. The hate is strong with that one. It happens.
Great idea - BYU vs. Coastal Carolina was scheduled later in the week than we are now, wasn't it? (No chance that Ohio St. would agree to this, mind you...particularly given that Notre Dame might beat Clemson in the ACC Championship Game, which would knock out the Tigers and leave space for two of Ohio St., Texas A&M and Florida, the latter assuming an upset over Alabama in the SEC title game.)Not kidding: OSU and A&M should play Saturday, winner gets the 4th playoff spot.
https://hoosierhuddle.com/hoosier-blog/indiana-comes-in-at-number-in-latest-college-football-playoff-ranking/2020/12/8The Indiana Hoosiers stayed put at number 12 in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings. The Hoosiers were 12th the last two weeks. The Hoosiers are coming off a win at Wisconsin, but their game this weekend is in doubt as Purdue has cancelled their Tuesday practice. The Hoosiers are in play for a New Year’s Six Bowl bid.
College Football Playoff Committee Chair Gary Barta, also the AD at Iowa explained the committee’s reasoning putting IU 12th.
“Well, the committee has really thought highly of Indiana” Barta said. “They only have one loss, and that's to Ohio State. They started off slow in that game but came back. Their defense has been strong. And then you always wonder when a team loses their leader, their quarterback, how will a team react to that, when they lost Michael Penix but Jack Tuttle came in and really did a nice job. The committee feels good about Indiana. They are 6-1 now.
When you look at some of the people that we compare around them, they don't have any top-25 wins and none of their wins are against a team with a winning record. So that certainly was considered as one of the variables.”
What you're missing is that the committee is allowed to speak out of both sides of their mouth.(BTW the only reason I am using Ohio a bunch is because they are in the same division as IU and (at least this year are playing the same damn schedule) so its an easier comparison point, at least for this year)
With that out of the way can anyone explain to me WTF type of Logic this is by the CFB playoff committee on why IU did not even move up one spot in the most recent rankings released yesterday despite beating a RANKED WISCONSIN team? (they were also 12th in the past CFB playoff rankings)
https://hoosierhuddle.com/hoosier-blog/indiana-comes-in-at-number-in-latest-college-football-playoff-ranking/2020/12/8
Re the bolded.. How the fudge does that make any sense? IU has beat 3 ranked teams this year, the only other CFB team to do that this year is ALABAMA.
When IU played them those three teams were ranked, and then IU won, so shouldn't those count as ranked wins? and if the CFB committee logic is "well they are no longer ranked currently so they are not really ranked wins" than why is OSU ranked because they are playing the same damn schedule as Indiana, and by CFB logic IU (the only team that OSU beat that is currently ranked) should not be ranked currently since they have not beaten any ranked teams this year (which would mean OSU also has no ranked wins this year)
CC @Detts
He’s also missing the idea that Indiana is new to the football party and must pay its dues for several years. What you're missing is that the committee is allowed to speak out of both sides of their mouth.
Or at least beat the team they want to leapfrog into the B1G title game. He’s also missing the idea that Indiana is new to the football party and must pay its dues for several years.
Same w/the SEC, no? West is considerably better.I'm usually in favor of geography in sports, especially college, but I sort of feel the B1G needs to be realigned. The East is much stronger, even after Rutgers putting immense downward pressure.
I mean, this is the correct answer. Hard to justify claims of "unfairness" if you can't beat tOSU on the field.Or at least beat the team they want to leapfrog into the B1G title game.
Yikes. Death for CBS afternoon SEC games. Still, probably makes mathematic sense for Viacom to not match.ESPN just bought the exclusive right for all SEC football and basketball games starting in 2024. A 10 year agreement.

I eagerly await Auburn's inevitable choice as the next average-to-above-average replacement coach. I hope whoever it is continues the "Lightning in a Bottle" tradition demonstrated within the first 2 seasons of his hiring by Chizik (2010) and Malzahn (2013).Auburn fires Gus Malzahn; Illinois fires Lovie Smith

I know this doesn't directly answer your question but it comes pretty close. The catch here is that they literally wrote the rules to replace the infected team with the 2nd place team, so the direct answer to your question is probably: it depends on the conference and their contingencies.Meant to post this here...so, what happens if there's a virus outbreak this week and one of the conference championship games have to be postponed? Will they be played the day after Christmas? Or what about the playoff games? Will other bowl games - especially the NY6 - get postponed, or just cancelled? Seems to me that the odds of one of the scenarios happening has to be at least 50-50, the way COVID is spreading across the country at the moment.
It was just announced that the Rose Bowl is being moved to Arlington, Texas so fans can attend.
It's weird how Arlington is the center of the sports universe this year, even though the Rangers and Cowboys both sucked.Rose Bowl moving to Arlington.
