Fun start to this game. JAM has threatened at least twice.

So if anyone was wondering what effect the FIFA threat against the Mexican FA would have on the "Puto" chant.... the answer is unsurprisingly none.
If you're wondering what they will do about it, the betting odds are:
Nothing 1:1
Meaninglessly small fine 1:3
Any real action 50000000000:1

I think Jamaica has outplayed Mexico in the first half, the only difference is that Mexico flawlessly executed their own good chance while Jamacia has managed to botch three or four great opportunities.

Yeah, Mexico took their goal well but have mostly been pinging pointless switch balls in attack. Jamaica has opened them up several times but can't finish

Goodnight Uruguay.
It was my Atletico favorite, Gimenez, who didn't hustle back enough to stop the Venezuela goal. It's been a rough year for the kid: he gave up a terrible goal against Deportivo in a match in which Atletico dropped two unnecessary points (and ; he gave up the PK against Bayern which Oblak thankfully saved; he was benched against Real Madrid in the Champions League final; and now this mistake.

Kind of ironic, considering there were reports he might be suspended for that game due to his confrontation with Juan Carlos Osorio after the Mexico game. Had he been suspended, they might still be in the tournament. Or not, who knows. They looked pretty clueless for the better part of the game.

Speaking of clueless, Mexico looked like garbage. Do that against even a mediocre side, and you're getting your doors blown off. I like that Osorio is willing to tinker and won't throw the same tactics game in and game out, regardless of how hopeless they might be, but that game was the textbook definition of getting too cute. Four center backs is rarely a recipe for fluid passing and maintaining possession. The fact that they started out with one as a winger (Yasser Corona) set off alarm bells in my head from the start.

I really didn't think they would miss Guardado as much as they did. But the lack of any sort of a clue in the midfield almost proved lethal. Holy turnovers, Batman!

The crowd in Foxboro tonight is embarrassing. I really wanted to go to this one but couldn't and I'm actually glad I'm not one of the few hundreds who seem to be there

This is a terrible matchup for marquee value. Chile is a very good side but no big stars.

Bolivia is just bad.

Real edit: just as I type this, Bolivian dude has a tremendous left footed strike for a goal off a free kick. Just beautiful.

Regardless, this is entertaining

A tie in this match is the only reasonable way that Panama goes through. Of course, Panama still needs a tie vs. Chile, something that is not realistic. I hold absolutely no hope that Panama will win/tie vs. Argentina later tonigt.

Edit: That Bolivian player looks like he had a concussion.

And Panama TV just tells me that Messi will not start.

How many times has anyone seen 8 minutes of stoppage time? I've seen 100 or more games that should have been but this is the first.. And that wasn't a legit handball in almost as many occasions..

So I'm watching the Argentina Panama game on a substantial delay but I have to say Mascherano is in RARE form in this game. He has already accounted for 4 yellow cards less than half an hour into the game. That's impressive. I'll duck back out now. Back to your live game threading.

Edit: I did catch that Godoy had gotten a red card. Just saw it. Yeah he needed to go. That was a stupid stupid foul. Both of them actually. Chile has had a very good day today. Stealing the win and Panama losing two starting XI players for that game on Tuesday. For now.

Wasn't expecting a Panama win, but please do not rub it in guys.

That being said, Messi is a difference maker. Panama was holding its own until he came in.

Sorry, hermano. Even with 10 men they were holding them down. Messi coming in just completely changed the game. Your boys never really threatened but they at least had a chance to keep the goal differential manageable.

My boys will avenge you. ☺

Panama's HC "Bolillo" Gomez really giving it to te refereeing in the press conference. Even though he acknowledges that the logic in this group is that Argentina and Chile advance, that penalty called on Bolivia made a difference in the group (Panama would have advanced with a draw vs. Chile if that PK is not called).

It really makes me sick and it's the second time this happens to us (and the last time was vs your boys).

Anyhow, Panama just has to be thrilled to be playing in this tournament.

I'm still on the fence about that PK for Chile. On the one hand, he did have his arm behind his back. On the other, that elbow sure was flying out. I can buy arguments for either side on that. And I can definitely see how the ambiguity could stick in one's craw.

I definitely don't buy the clock argument though. That head injury to the Bolivian player chewed up a ton of clock. And it's not like Bolivia didn't get a chance to equalize. They just didn't convert it.
