#DFG: Canceling the Noise

Is there any level of suspension that you would advise Tom to accept?

Zolak just stated that the league has received the request to reinstate JJ and Dorito Dink. Apparently they had to send it 3 times for the NFL Front Office to acknowledge it.

The NFL confirms that the request to reinstate McNally and Jastremski from suspension is "under review"

EEI running with:  if RG says the league never suspended them, then what exactly is the league "review"ing....

They didn't "suspend" them, they just said they couldn't participate without their approval. Can't you guys see?

In fairness to the NFL, they might have thought the e-mail contained a video of that Browns assistant coach beating up his wife.

Schefter says that the league asked for the suspension. The Pats posted a letter that reinstatement would require approval. I'm not sure there's anything tangible that shows that backs up Schefter.

So it's possible that the Pats did it of their own volition and the NFL subsequently asked for a review. I believe Schefter, of course.

Yes, but even if the Pats acted first, it's clear that the NFL still basically suspended them indefinitely.

Pats should send them out for the coin toss against the Colts.
I was wondering what would have happened if Kraft just sent them out tomorrow without asking the league. How would "we never suspended Dorito Dink" Goodell have reacted?

My best guess:

ROG probably called Kraft before releasing the report. During the conversation he probably either asked or suggested that the dinks get suspended. There is no other proof. The Pats probably leaked this to Schefter but are not willing to go on the record.

Schefter keeps doubling down, and if it's a he said/she said between Schefter and the NFL, I know who I believe.

No wonder they had to send it again, Pash probably stomped in his computer to destroy the email.

Interesting. This is going to be about the games Exponent played with the two gauge pictures that I believe someone here discovered.

Edit: Now I see it was on last night.

“@CharlesRobinson: Sooo, #NFL absolutely, unequivocally didn’t suspend the two #Patriots employees. But the NFL has to clear their reinstatement? Incongruent.”

“@CharlesRobinson: Simple questions: Would #NFL have suspended the #Patriots team employees if team didn’t? And was that relayed to the Patriots? Yes and yes.”

The NFL clearly included continuance of the suspension as a stipulation in the punishment. It's not that hard to see what game the NFL is trying to play here. They are hanging the suspension on the Patriots as an admission of guilt. "And since you've implicitly admitted to their involvement, we concur with the suspension and wish to enforce it."

By now Kraft should know to have his iPhone on record whenever he has a conversation with a league official.

NFL missed an opportunity to paint TB into a corner by offering to unsuspend JJ and McNally if he settled.

I hope Kraft makes them assistants to the Director of Football Research.

Only if he wants to join Aaron Hernandez in jail.

“@SheilKapadia: Richard Sherman: Good to see Tom Brady get justice. Too often in league, it’s guilty until proven innocent.”

Prosecutorial discretion.
Yeah, I doubt Kraft is spending a minute in court if he exposes NFL corruption against his team. If nothing else, he can use it as behind the scenes leverage.

Also, if he's out of MA, it could be legal.

The best one is from a school teacher in Reno who writes a three page letter about how guilty Tom Brady is and how disgusted she is when she sees kids wearing his jersey -- she demands that Berman further fine Brady and give the money to concussion research.

With all due respect, I ask you Judge Berman, How can teachers and coaches expect youngsters to abide by the rules of fair play if their favorite player doesn't have to?

Can't wait to read TheoShmeo's letter.
Berman was writing letters to TheoShmeo.

I can't wait until he posts the results of his home football deflation test to the docket.

Is there a link to all of these for non-lawyers?
So are there any letters in support of Goodell, or is Berman selectively rubbing it in the NFL's face?

Based on the crazy that I've seen on the Internet, Berman must have received letters from fanatics on both sides.

You have to imagine the Venn diagram overlap between 'people who are legit crazy' and 'people who still send letters' is statistically significant.

Often referred to as a "circle."
