I'm all-in on Aaron Nola, as I said a few weeks ago. #Phillies are getting a can't-miss guy here at 7.

The draft was better when it was just a conference call and die hards chatting.

It gets more that way in the later rounds. I think the commentators get to talk in a storage closet.

Jesus, enough with this ON. THE. CLOCK. bullshit, Selig. You're incapable of creating even the faintest hint of drama or authority.

You're old, you're decrepit, and you're in the way.

Jon Heyman's mock draft has nailed it so far, except for his #2 and #3 picks being flipped.

So he hasn't nailed it, then.

Good to know.

In other news, Heyman simply copies the mock drafts posted by others. He doesn't attend or watch college or prep baseball games.

It's been like this for a few years. It's unreal.

The Blue Jays apparently want Kennesaw State catcher Max Pentecost, and they'll probably get him it Law's correct with this:

keithlaw ‏@keithlaw
Rockies back to Evansville LHP Kyle Freeland, whom I had them taking in earlier mocks. Very good slider, small chance he ends up in relief.

These analysts need to stop quoting low ERAs in the Cape League (or any wood bat league) as if they actually mean anything. It takes weeks for most hitters they face to adjust from metallic to wood bats, on top of adjusting to facing new pitchers. By the time hitters start crushing it, the pitchers' ERAs are so low they can't be damaged unless their control sucks and they walk the park every night.

Jeff Hoffman, RHP, East Carolina to the Jays. It's amazing how Tommy John surgeries -- even within the last month -- do nothing to lower the draft stock of these kids.

Toronto picks again after the Mets.

Blue Jays are probably going to under slot him like crazy, there's no where he can go.

Wow, what a great video of Kyle Freeland's reaction with his Dad. Gulp.
Got a little dusty in here.... And damn it on Hoffman. It was a small chance but I was dreaming.

I'm totally blanking--what FA's did they lose this off-season?

The second #1 pick is for failing to sign last year's #1, Phil Bickford.

Is the kid really good enough to go higher than #10 when goes back into the draft?  He passed up $2.9M per google which is hard to believe he passed on for a small chance to get slotted higher

And apparently he's struggling at, I believe Cal state Fullerton. He will regret his decision.

High school kids (and their families) make all sorts of stupid decisions. That was definitely a prime example.

I thought the Blue Jays were just trying to get a pick for this years draft instead and lowballed him in order to get this current pick.

Pentecost goes to TOR here. That's 7 college players in the first 11.

You'll be able to see him in the Super Regionals this weekend.

I think that was part of their process, but the kid still stupidly passed up a shitload of dough.

Google shows him as being offered slot money right before the GM declared they werent going to be able to sign him

Padres have been liked to Brad "no relation to Gerbil" Zimmer, OF from U of San Francisco.
