NFL has the worst trade deadline cCorsi said:

I doubt Dorito Dink and the guy manning the batteries for the ref headsets have much inside infoBoSoxFink said:

And non-guaranteed contracts. You have a decent chance of just adding a guy who's cut; conversely, there's less incentive to unload a big deal to a team with space...you can usually just cut them.jsinger121 said:
Hard salary cap to blame
I'm with you on this. Trading a mid-round pick for a decent LT would have made sense, like a fourth or fifth for Jermon Bushrod of the Bears or something. Trading a first for Joe Thomas and having to clear a bunch of salary for him seems like overkill and a poor use of resources.Toe Nash said:I don't know if Thomas would have helped as much as people are thinking, honestly. Manning is at his best when he gets rid of the ball quickly. If he's not, he's not going to run around in the pocket until someone gets open; he's probably just going to throw it away or make a dump-off throw. That's just how he plays.
Yes, the rush was getting to him early in the year, but they don't need an all-world OL for Manning's offense to function, they just need a non-putrid one. I think they would have improved more by adding another WR (certainly possible there was no such player).
Moot now, I suppose.
Tactical false leak by the Patriots to fake others into panicked overpaying on a trade?

Text from official familiar with proposed Joe Thomas-to-Denver trade: "Thisclose."

From @Jeff_Legwold, #Broncos backed out of Joe Thomas deal when #Browns asked for 1st, 2nd AND 3rd round draft picks http://bit.ly/1iBynKy
