Kovalev killed a dude and people are still talking about his pale shadow GGG the next day.ElUno20 said:GGG will headline his first ppv at the garden in October against Lemieux. I wish this wasnt on ppv but i cant deny that I'm genuinely looking forward to this.
Chocolatito-Viloria may be on the undercard. We're going, right?Marciano490 said:Kovalev killed a dude and people are still talking about his pale shadow GGG the next day.
You coming to NYC for it? If I'm in town, I'll definitely be at that fight.WayBackVazquez said:Chocolatito-Viloria may be on the undercard. We're going, right?
Yeah but you're forgetting his impressive ko of josesito lopez! The 3 suggested names that he ducked are thurman, porter, and khan. But thats bullshit. This should have been bradley's fightBGrif21125 said:Berto is a fringe Top 15 or Top 20 welterweight. His best win was a close decision over Luis Collazo over 6 years ago. Since that "peak", he's been beaten up by Victor Ortiz (who Floyd knocked out) and beaten up by Robert Guerrero (who Floyd shut out). He was also knocked out by Jesus Soto Karass, who lost 7 of 10 fights sandwiched around his KO of Berto.
It's a stay-busy sparring session at the "discounted" price of $75, which still makes it one of the 5 most expensive PPVs in boxing history.
Marciano490 said:I'd like to see Bradley v. PBF, actually. While HBO tries to play him off as a plugger, he's actually highly skilled, quick, well-rounded and tough as hell. He doesn't have great power, which is a bit surprising given his physique, but we all know how that goes.
Anyways, the key to beating a guy like Floyd in a lot of cases is just will. It's frustrating as hell to get popped every time you come in. It's hard when a guy runs for 12 rounds. Obviously, will can't overcome skill, but Bradley's the type of fighter who would keep coming forward again and again, and might do enough to put Floyd in bad spots, the way Maidana and Cotto were able to. Only, Bradley has a bit more skill, if less power, than either of those guys (or at least more skill than Cotto pre-rejuvenation).

Bradley is a little jerky, for lack of a better descriptor. His attack is jittery, and looks unfocused but, of course, it's not. But he doesn't have the power to knock out Floyd even if does put him in a few bad spots, IMO. Absolutely a more entertaining fight than Berto and more deserving, but I actually don't think it would be a very close fight.
I need to watch more of Thurman. Any recommended fights beyond his last two (the only one's I've seen)?
ElUno20 said:Garcia?
ah yes. I blanked for some reason i thought of the retired Mikey Garcia. Danny boy did look on track in 2013 but 2014 and this year's peterson fight exposed him.Marciano490 said:
Yeah, for a minute Danny Garcia seemed like he might be on the road to being a credible Floyd opponent. Not so much now.
I think this is a little unfair. As I understand it, Bradley's deal guarantees him a seven-figure minimum for every fight, and he made ~$6 million or so for the 2nd Pacquiao fight. That's very good money for a guy who is a very solid fighter, but doesn't have a ton of marketability or a big regional or ethnic fanbase behind him. Outside of Floyd/Manny/Cotto/Canelo/Wlad, Bradley is one of the higher paid fighters out there.ElUno20 said:I don't who bradley's business manager is but he should be fired. Actually i think its his wife, she has to go. He's in a career hamster wheel where he will be fighting every top rank loser from now until 2026.
MGM owns Mandalay Bay. This fight wasn't going to be anywhere but Vegas, and it was just a scheduling thing that has it going there over MGM Grand Garden.ElUno20 said:Nov 21 at the Mandalay Bay in vegas. Apparently they forked over a lot cash to cotto to get the fight there
Canelo is not really smaller than GGG. They both have been rehydrating to around 175.Marciano490 said:I think they're both ultimately too small. It's kind of a goldilocks situation going on in that 15-20 pound weight area these days.
Marciano490 said:That's true, but you know the difference between the scale test and the eye test. I think we'd both agree that GGG would decidely be the bigger man vs Canelo. You in vegas this weekend buddy?
